You've booked your language immersion course – exciting! But if you're feeling a little nervous about speaking up, or worried your language skills are a bit rusty, you're not alone. That's exactly what LearnReady is here for.
LearnReady is a pre-arrival programme of four one-to-one online sessions with an experienced, friendly teacher. Before you travel, you'll have the chance to warm up your language skills, build your confidence, and arrive feeling genuinely ready to make the most of your time abroad. Every session is personal – just you and your teacher – so you can focus on exactly what matters to you.
By your last session, you'll have a clear sense of your level, your goals, and what to expect when you arrive.
Your pre-arrival programme is offered through your school or study travel agency – LearnReady delivers the classes on their behalf. Your school or agency will provide you with your login details, and we'll take everything from there.
LearnReady currently offers pre-arrival programmes in English, French, and Spanish.
Getting started with LearnReady is straightforward. Here's everything you need to know to log in, set up your account, and book your first class.
You'll receive your username and password from your school or study travel agency. Once you have them, head to:

Once your account is set up, you're ready to book.
You'll receive a confirmation email straight away, and your class will appear on your dashboard. You'll also get a reminder email two hours before it begins.
When it's time for your class, click Enter Class. You'll be guided through a quick equipment check to confirm your browser, microphone and camera are all working – and then you're in. Your teacher will guide you through everything from there.
Your teacher will introduce themselves and walk you through a simple level assessment. Don't worry – this isn't a scary exam. It's mostly a guided conversation with some exercises, designed to help your teacher understand your level, your learning goals, and your personal interests. They'll guide you through everything you need to do.
Each class is 27 minutes long within a 30-minute slot. The remaining three minutes are used by your teacher to write notes and prepare for their next lesson.
No. LearnReady classes are delivered in our virtual classroom, which runs directly in your browser. There's no need to download any additional software.
We encourage all students to use headphones or earphones, as this makes for a much better class experience and avoids any uncomfortable audio issues. That said, if you don't have headphones, don't worry – it's completely possible to take your class using your regular computer speakers.
Yes, it is possible to take classes on a phone or tablet. However, we recommend using a laptop or desktop where possible, as the experience is much nicer on a larger screen.
All classes are delivered in the target language – but don't worry if you're a complete beginner. Our teachers are very experienced and will guide you through everything at your own pace. Our goal isn't to test you – it's to get you speaking and feeling confident as quickly as possible, even if that's just hello, bonjour or hola!
Your teacher will be able to tell you your CEFR level during your sessions. Because these are personalised one-to-one classes, your level can always be adapted and updated as you progress. Some students may be placed at one level in their first class and have this revised in later sessions – that's completely normal and nothing to worry about.
Yes, and we do recommend it – consistency with the same teacher is great for your learning. That said, we understand that the first teacher you book might not be the perfect fit, and that's completely fine. You can switch teachers at any point during your programme. Any new teacher will already have your previous session notes, so you won't need to repeat the level assessment or cover anything you've already done.
Yes. You can cancel a class at any time and rebook with the teacher of your choice at a time that suits you better. Please note that if you cancel a class with less than 24 hours' notice, the class credit will not be refunded.
Occasionally, a teacher may have a technical issue or last-minute problem that prevents them from completing a class. If this happens, don't worry – we will always make it right. If part of the class is lost (five minutes or more of class time), we will refund your full class credit. If the entire class is lost, we will also provide an additional class as an apology.
Our teacher coordination team will review each case individually, so please allow up to three business days for your credit to be processed.
Your teacher is there to help. Even before you've entered the classroom and completed the equipment checks, you'll see a chat button on the right-hand side of the screen. Write in there and your teacher will be able to reply and help you work through any issues.
Your learner assessment report includes your CEFR level, a short summary of your learning goals and any areas to work on, and a brief personal profile. It's shared with your school to help them place you in the right group and personalise your experience when you arrive.
It's also a great way to gain some insight into your own learning journey – giving you a clearer picture of where you are, where you're heading, and what to focus on.
Absolutely. Our teachers are very comfortable working with learners of all ages, and we welcome students from 4 to 104! Parents can feel reassured that all of our teachers are vetted and proactively monitored by our experienced teacher coordination team.
